FREDRIK LOGEVALL
JFK: VOLUME 1: JOHN F KENNEDY: 1917:1956 (2020)
John F.Kennedy served as the 35th President of the USA from 1961 to his assassination in 1963. He is, at 44, the youngest person to have been elected as President. A Democrat, he had served, after war service in the US Navy, as Congressman and later Senator for his home state of Massachussetts. His period of office spanned the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union, including the Cuba missile crisis.
The Sunday Times described this first volume of Logevall’s biography of Kennedy as: ‘The most compelling biography I have read in years...There has been a host of JFK biographies, but this one excels for its narrative drive, fine judgments and meticulous research.’
