King Charles III was born in Buckingham Palace in 1948. His first marriage, to Diana Spencer, was in 1981. There were two children (William and Harry) from this marriage, which was dissolved in 1996. His second marriage, in 2005, was to Camilla Parker Bowles. Charles III ascended the throne in 2022 on the death of his mother Elizabeth II. In 1976 he founded the Prince’s Trust, a charity which helps young people who are struggling with issues such as homelessness or mental health problems. It works each year with around 60,000 young people, with most moving into eduction, employment or training.

Andrew Roberts wrote of Hardman’s biography of Charles III: ‘He did it with Elizabeth II and now he has done it again with Charles III. Robert Hardman is the unsurpassed grand master when it comes to the inside story of the modern monarchy.’ Simon Heffer wrote in the Daily Telegraph: ‘This glorious book reveals the real Charles III. Hardman’s magisterial biography, full of detail about the King, the Queen and the Sussexes alike, will become a historical document’.
